The Organisation
The Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority ("ESTA”) delivers a service which handles Triple Zero for some five million Victorians, via a 24x7 operation, staffed by approximately 580 dedicated professionals. ESTA also provides and manages the operational communications for the dispatch of police, fire, ambulance and State Emergency Services in Victoria.
The Role
To guide ESTA, the new CEO will be an outstanding leader with highly effective management and commercial skills and a demonstrable track record of success. Ideally, the candidate will have worked at the senior executive level and possess telecommunications/IT experience, however this is not essential. It is more important that the person has proven strategic, operational, financial and human capital leadership skills. Additionally, the CEO must possess strong stakeholder management skills and be highly knowledgeable and experienced in dealing with Government.
ESTA is an organisation which is led by executives with sound technical skills who will be able to support the new leader. It is important that the new CEO has the ability to manage the breadth of technical and administrative skills in their team. The person must also have the necessary drive and desire to deliver successful results in the coming phase, especially with the agenda for change which is already in progress.
The Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have/be a:
- Clear, effective credible leader with the ability to facilitate strategic change and deliver on critical projects and processes
- Experience in providing authoritative strategic and operational advice at the senior executive/Board level
- Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and management demonstrating an ability to work effectively in a complex, multiple stakeholders and government services environment
- Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Skilled in delivering operational, financial and strategic results
- An understanding of current practices and innovations in emergency services communications would be advantageous
- A sound appreciation of 24x7 mission critical service delivery requirements
