Head of Country Program
for Multi-billion Dollar Coal Business

The Organisation

Our client is a leading diversified mining and resources company with a large number of domestic and international operations and projects in its capital development pipeline for coal.

The Role

An opportunity currently exists to appoint a Program Director for the business’ growing coal project and operations portfolio in the Asian region. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a multi-billion dollar Greenfield program of mine and infrastructure development with a focus on achieving key outcomes in feasibility, definition, planning, scheduling, construction, HSEC, cost, quality, and controls. 

The successful candidate will be in one of the most senior project and business leadership positions in the business and will enjoy driving exceptional project and operational excellence in challenging, culturally diverse environments.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

Experience	Skills
Education	Relevant technical / tertiary qualifications in engineering, mining or related discipline
Experience	15+ years experience in resources with a focus on working in developing / remote environments; Leadership of a $1bn+ project portfolio or major project, specifically providing services to support and deliver the     project (s), and / or; Experience leading a large-scale operational business in resources; Demonstrated experience with project cost control, planning / scheduling systems and project estimation; Contract and financial management experience.
Skills	Strong project leadership skills, particularly on complex and logistically difficult projects; Global perspective and understanding of the coal industry; Exceptional stakeholder management skills, particularly in complex political environments; Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Attributes	Regarded as a credible, outstanding leader in the mining industry; Clear determination and willingness to deliver and manage a world-class coal program; Patience and judgement to manage the cultural nuances of an emerging market; Ability to articulate and execute a project vision within a set project and operations structure.

 

Location

The role of Program Director is based in Jakarta, Indonesia and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility in travelling to Brisbane and project sites as required.
