Productivity Commission – Report on Executive Remuneration in Australia

January 4, 2010

The Australian Government today released the Productivity Commission's final report into executive remuneration in Australia, reporting that it will consider the reports recommendations before their response, expected in March this year.

It is a timely release with the new APRA guidelines regarding banking institutions also coming into effect this in April this year also.

The final report is a combination of the submissions received, public hearings and consultation with industry and as a result are expected to more pragmatic and easy to implement later on.

The section of the report dealing with the governance of remuneration is a reflection of OPPEUS's approach, as it includes the recommendations put forward in our submission to the Productivity Commission. We believe this puts OPPEUS International on the front foot, as our Remuneration Specialist, Jasper Coghlan is already working with clients to encourage and implement the practices outlined in the report.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss the impact of the report and our response to the submission.

Should you or your organisation require assistance in any area of remuneration, please feel free to contact one of our Remuneration Specialists in our Melbourne office on +61 3 9661 8000.
