The Organisation
Our client is an organisation which provides services to infrastructure based industries predominantly in the telecommunications and utilities sectors providing specialist end-to-end services including fixed line & wireless infrastructure design, maintenance, deployment and management; contact centre activities and logistics.
The Role
At present, the Board is seeking to appoint a new independent Director as the Board up weights the representation of independent directors in light of modern governance practices and market expectations.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess a broad business understanding and acumen in order to effectively contribute to the decision making processes and growth aspirations of the Board. It is it is expected that he/she will possess most, if not all, of the following skills and characteristics:
- A strong track record as a Director of a public company or large private company
- Experienced at a CEO, senior executive, or professional level leadership
- Demonstrated knowledge of Board governance requirements and their implementation
- Exposure to acquisitions and business mergers, not only at the due diligence and financial structuring end, but also at the implementation and integration phases
In terms of the ideal candidate, it is expected that he/she will possess some/all of the following attributes:
- Empathy with and understanding of the broader utilities sector (telecommunications, power, water, gas) is highly desirable
- Appropriate interpersonal characteristics for operating in a board environment
- Ability to think strategically, commercially and holistically
- Financial, management and investment analysis skills desirable (financial qualifications would be a distinct advantage)
- Contribute sufficient time and commitment to make a key contribution to the governance of the organisation to ensure its continued success
- Ability to work closely with major stakeholders
