Nicholas Varigos: Managing Director

Nicholas is a founder of OPPEUS and has practised in senior executive search and strategic leadership since 1993. He is active and well reputed in the sectors of mining & resources, engineering services, financial services, health, agribusiness, manufacturing and government.

At OPPEUS Nicholas is the firms Managing Director and heads the Executive Search Practice. Nicholas is leading local, international and global searches across a wide sector portfolio.

Prior to co-founding OPPEUS, Nicholas was a leading consultant in the Melbourne office of a global executive search firm. He had regional practice responsibilities and was Global Relationship Manager for a Strategic Account client within the Professional Services environment. He was involved in significant global, regional and local searches for major global, multinational and listed Australian corporations as well as in academia, government and professional services businesses.

The first 10 years of Nicholas' career were spent in commercial law. He then held Corporate Legal Counsel and Director positions for an international group. These operations included manufacturing, car parking, hospitality and property development. He was then Managing Director and Legal Counsel for a leading diversified Hong Kong based corporation. He also spent three years in corporate advisory consulting, with particular emphasis on emerging Asian markets.

Nicholas was educated at Wesley College, Melbourne and has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne. He is a Governor of the Victorian Chapter of American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham). He also serves as a member of the Executive Committee. He is the President of the Ithacan Philanthropic Society of Melbourne and Victoria.
