Provide contact details on the front page, ensure there are no spelling, typographical or grammatical errors

On the front page, list your qualifications, Board, Council or Committee appointments, and membership of professional organisations (e.g., AICD, AIM or AHRI) on the front page

When writing your ‘Experience’, ensure you include a brief sentence describing the organisation/s in which you have held roles with regards to size, industry and geography. For example:

  • ABC Engineering – ASX-listed engineering services firm established in 1990, current revenues $25m, employing 100 staff across four offices globally, key clients in mining, automotive and chemicals.

The length or your CV should be 2-4 pages to provide sufficient detail of key responsibilities and achievements without losing the interest of your reader

Include the month and year for the commencement and end date of each role you have held

It is advised to write a CV without using any personal pronouns such as ‘I’ or ‘my’ or reference to the third person. For example, when listing your responsibilities and achievements, follow the style of:

  • ‘Full P&L responsibility for a team of 100 and budget of $20m’
  • ‘Delivered year-on-year growth of 10% and maintained staff engagement at 80%’
  • There is no need to write ‘I led a team of 30’ or ‘Dan had responsibility for all sales in the Western region’
